What can you bring?

The Cars

Part of the fun is the variety of cars that turn up. Minis, Italian cars, genuine film cars and proper old-school bangers are all welcome — but the rules are slightly different depending on what you bring.

The classic choice

Minis

Any Mini is welcome provided it meets one of the following:

it is worth £1,000 or less, or
it is 20 years old or more.

Classic Minis and later MINIs are both welcome. Red, white and blue are particularly encouraged, but definitely not compulsory.

The special exception

Cars from the film

Any model that appeared in The Italian Job is welcome, regardless of age or value.

This is the one category where the £1,000 / 20-year rule does not apply. If it is genuinely associated with the film, bring it.

Supercars are welcome too. If somebody wants to arrive in something suitably dramatic, we are not going to stop them.

A bit of Italian flair

Italian cars

Any Italian car is welcome provided it meets one of the following:

it is worth £1,000 or less, or
it is 20 years old or more.

Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and other Italian marques all fit the theme perfectly.

Anything with character

Bangers

Any other car is welcome provided it meets one of the following:

it is worth £1,000 or less, or
it is 20 years old or more.

The more character the better. Previous rallies have shown that the cars people remember are rarely the sensible ones.

The simple version

Minis, Italian cars and bangers: £1,000 or less OR 20 years old or more.

Cars from the film: no age or value restriction.

Make it your own

Decoration is positively encouraged

This is a fun rally, not a concours event. Team names, stickers, period themes, flags, film references and fancy dress all add to the atmosphere. The only real aim is to bring something that makes the journey memorable.
